It seems to me that for the USD and the US stock markets to go up in tandem would suggest a robust and healthy US economy which is pulling in massive amounts of money from investors from other countries (net global inflows). Since China is outpacing the US in growth, I find this unlikely. I can only see net global inflows to the US going to safety assets. Just my two cents worth.
Good points. If there is a new technology revolution and bubble however that could change. We look at the technicals and ask 'what are the markets trying to tell us'? We do not try to tell the markets what they are saying. Right now (until the trend is broken in equities and a new downtrend is established) it is saying "future growth led by technology". Could that change? You betcha! But it hasn't. Not yet.

Interesting. I sure hope we do have a good future in technology. It is sad to see the US lagging the way it is.
