More thoughts

I am sorry that I have now abondoned the strategies that I started posting here.

I believe I have found a better way and will share it with anyoune interested.

I implemented several portfolios in VictorVest using their winning strategies included Mighty Mites, and Thorton Thunder in a reverse fashions that allows VictorVest to issue Trailing Buy Stop Alerts to me when 7% trailing stop is triggered.  I will then review the chart pattern using stockcharts.com.  If the alert pass my inspection, I will issue a Buy Alert on the stock.

It is suggested entry on Buy Alerts with small position and a 7% trailing stop.  Exit when 7% trailing is treggered or sooner when the stock starts exhibiting negative chart behavior.  Take profit on half the position when the stock gains 20 % or more and peaking, and then hold the rest for the length of rise until the 7% trailing stop is triggered.

Backtests of the VictorVest Strategies indicate a Return of 43.55% for Thorton Thunders and 72% for Mighty Mites since the start of the current bull run on 10/3/11.  Since we included additional pattern examination in our approach, we should perform even better than purely following the Strategies and spend less on commission.

I am starting a bottom fishing strategy using Bullish Reversal Patterns (opposite of those for the Profit Alert Filter) for entry with emphasis on those with clear RSI Bullish Swing Buy Signal.  Once the stock is selected, it will be exited when RSI…Continue

Instead of:

6 Day EMA today > 6 Day EMA 6 days ago

Criteria change to:

2 Day EMA today > 2 Day EMA 6 Days ago.

I am not sure if I will start another portifilio to test the idea.  It seem like waiting for a 2nd day on both IN and OUT may cut out a lot of the whipsaw. The 2nd day not only has to be IN or OUT but must close higher or lower for confirmation.

Thursday 6/2/11

IN: ZAGG

OUT: LXU, NEOP

In face of such a sudden on slaugth, it is difficult to maintain discipline.  Barchart TOP barely switched to BUY and quickly turn back to become a Sale.   Investor Business Daily switched just back to Confirm Up Trend and quick switch back to Market In Correction.  In bad market, emotion gets into our way.  What a bull trap. You know, it occur right at the first of the month, just like last month.  It makes you think who is doing it.

This strategy requires strong trending stocks to work.  Our test on this stretgy is just starting.  The result will be with us soon enough.  In the mean time, no one can suggest play with any but funny money.

AXK close @ 4.77 EMA is @ 4.11.  Very close of not meeting the criteria for hold.  ZAGG just bounced up and broke up.  People shorting these rocket stocks has to worry and they buy back quicker than you think.

Left out LXU yesterday. It pulled back slightly today for a better buy.

Thank You for Mr. Fazen joining on my invitation.

Subcribers to Victor Vest know that VV recently run a so called Triathlon Contest in which the contestant automatic IN and OUT on a selection of stocks or ETFs based on a particular VV search criteria based on a certain timing signal.  The winning strategy gained over 300% over a year.  I see high simmularity between the Triathlon Winning Strategies and the Alpha 20 Holds except the we don't time the market and let individual position to tell us whether to stay or OUT.  The Alpha 20 Holds using a different trap and will be trading a lot less that the Triathlon Winning Strategies.  The VV Wining Search Criteria will be under test as an alternate trap.

Monday In: AXK, NEOP, OMEX, RMTI

The way ZAGG is right up against resistance, up over upper Kithner limit, and back off.  A scan before the end of the day shows it is now off the scan.  It is safe to say it probable don't have any energy left short term and do not have to wait for tomorrow for exit.
