More thoughts

I am sorry that I have now abondoned the strategies that I started posting here.

I believe I have found a better way and will share it with anyoune interested.

I implemented several portfolios in VictorVest using their winning strategies included Mighty Mites, and Thorton Thunder in a reverse fashions that allows VictorVest to issue Trailing Buy Stop Alerts to me when 7% trailing stop is triggered.  I will then review the chart pattern using stockcharts.com.  If the alert pass my inspection, I will issue a Buy Alert on the stock.

It is suggested entry on Buy Alerts with small position and a 7% trailing stop.  Exit when 7% trailing is treggered or sooner when the stock starts exhibiting negative chart behavior.  Take profit on half the position when the stock gains 20 % or more and peaking, and then hold the rest for the length of rise until the 7% trailing stop is triggered.

Backtests of the VictorVest Strategies indicate a Return of 43.55% for Thorton Thunders and 72% for Mighty Mites since the start of the current bull run on 10/3/11.  Since we included additional pattern examination in our approach, we should perform even better than purely following the Strategies and spend less on commission.

The trailing stop to protect profit for stock gaining over 15% will be changed from 10% to 11%.  As if someone knows where to drop prices in order to steal shares, the intra day pull back low yesterday was right at the 10% mark.

Correction: 4.97% is the Change in the Winner/Loser Ration, % Gain for the week is .85%.  not superior to shorting but stay in the game.

From 5/19/11 to today:  Alpha 20 Holds Statistics are as follows:

23 positions, 18 closed, 11 Winners, 12 Losers, % Win =47.83, overall G/L =+1.23%

Change for the weeks are:  2 new positions, 9 positions added to  closed, 3 new winners, no change in no of losers, % Win = 4.97%

When the market SPY dropped 2.16% for the week, Alpha 20 Holds gained 4.97%. Obviously superior to trying to short the market.  Just need to stay disciplined. OUT when the scan say OUT.  No question asked.

A good chunk of profit were left on the table on CSII, ATAI and OTEX.  Will look at refining the filter to tighten the Exit a bit.

ZAGG did not meet the criteria 2 Day EMA higher than 6 days ago, but since it reversed up on the day, it is given an extra day to meet the criteria.

To protect against market volatility, a STOP to be implemented immediately follow IN @ may be 5% below purchase price.  For stocks runs up at least 15%, a trailing stop around 10% is appropriate to protect profit.

Correction: the sort is Descending.

So, Down Marking Fighting Alphas will be the 30 TOP 100 Alpha Stocks with the best Victor Vest RV/RT Values. And Jail Breaking Alphas will be the 30 TOP 100 Alpha Stocks with the best VST/RT Values.

6/8/11

IN: GLNG

Criteria Change -

Instead of:  Aroon Osc > 30

Replace with: Aroon Osc >5

Will start testing of two additional traps.  Instead of simply the TOP 30 Alpha Stocks,

Down Market Fighting Alphas will be the 30 TOP 100 Alpha Stocks with the worst Victor Vest RV/RT Values.

Jail Breaking Alphas will be the 30 TOP 100 Alpha Stocks with the worst VST/RT DESC Values.

OUT: GLNG, IPGP

It may well confirmed that there is no place to hire in a down turn.  It is best to exit ALL position and leave.  This downside move continue to make head fakes (1 on the downside and 2 on the upsdie) and who know whether the dip yesterday is not another one.  The fear will set in soon. Closeing price has reached the lower knthner channel and call for a bounce very soon.  The selection filtered by Alpha 20 Holds looks so good and ready to go as soon as the market turns.
