More thoughts

I am sorry that I have now abondoned the strategies that I started posting here.

I believe I have found a better way and will share it with anyoune interested.

I implemented several portfolios in VictorVest using their winning strategies included Mighty Mites, and Thorton Thunder in a reverse fashions that allows VictorVest to issue Trailing Buy Stop Alerts to me when 7% trailing stop is triggered.  I will then review the chart pattern using stockcharts.com.  If the alert pass my inspection, I will issue a Buy Alert on the stock.

It is suggested entry on Buy Alerts with small position and a 7% trailing stop.  Exit when 7% trailing is treggered or sooner when the stock starts exhibiting negative chart behavior.  Take profit on half the position when the stock gains 20 % or more and peaking, and then hold the rest for the length of rise until the 7% trailing stop is triggered.

Backtests of the VictorVest Strategies indicate a Return of 43.55% for Thorton Thunders and 72% for Mighty Mites since the start of the current bull run on 10/3/11.  Since we included additional pattern examination in our approach, we should perform even better than purely following the Strategies and spend less on commission.

I am starting a bottom fishing strategy using Bullish Reversal Patterns (opposite of those for the Profit Alert Filter) for entry with emphasis on those with clear RSI Bullish Swing Buy Signal.  Once the stock is selected, it will be exited when RSI…Continue

Problem found in the implmentation of the bearish reversal signals with the filter.  This is because RMTI clearly has a bearish engulfing pattern yesterday and the filter did not picked it up.  Changes made and the following did not meet the criteria:

OUT: APSA, CBRX,GRZ, NL and RMTI

COOL is definitely not cool today. 5% Stop after entry should avoid the most of the lost today.

COOL actual looks rather excellent and looks to be a leader in the next several week.

Other worthwhile mentions are VVTV, MIND and FOSL.

AIRM may be really to go again as it consolidated for several days at narrow price range.  Just like EGHT.

Initial STOPs are important.  To surrive down market like now, one has to be tenacious and disciplined.  Mr. Capitulation, you are welcome but please hurry up and arrive now.

6/14/11

IN: GRZ, COOL, INTX

OUT: XG

XG was IN on 6/11/11.

Both GRZ and COOL has started the run up last week and just made it up to the TOP 30.  It is kind of scary to buy at the moment.

INTX and XG are consolidated right at the cut off of the filter causing them to be in one day and out the next day.  In such case, a STOP close to the bottem range may take care of business instead of getting IN and OUT.

AXK pulled back sharply yesterday and would have be stopped out using the 11% trailing stop. It still make the scan today because of its prior run up but now may not be a good time to buy as buyers of TRR found out.

6/11/11

For Monday, IN: ARIA, APSA, CBRX, NL, OME and VHI

                  OUT: INTX

The 30 Stocks in the Alpha 30 Trap was updated once a week which lead to a high number of additons on Monday.  If the Trap is to be updated on a daily basis, it would required  considerable more work than simply running a scan.

Criteria Additons:

Filter is modified to screen out stocks with the following bearish pattern occurred during the past 5 days:

1. Bearish Engulfing

2. Evening Star

3. Bearish Harami

4. Hanging Man

5. Dark Cloud Cover

This should lead to a prompt exit except the engulfing reversal that has offer no warning.
